I started training with James in 2011. At the time I was a runner, logging more than 40 miles a week and experiencing a lot of hip and knee issues. I learned about strength training, functional movement and original strength. My knee and hip issues have essentially disappeared and my mobility has drastically improved.
Getting Stronger, Staying Healthy!
Having lifted the majority of my life, I thought there wasn’t much I could learn. That was until I started training with James. From the get go he stressed how muscle groups were connected and building a solid base for lifts was essential. He took the time to teach me proper form on lifts I’ve been doing improperly for years.
I started working with James after I herniated a disc and was in constant and extreme pain. I had tried every possible remedy available for back pain including chiropractic work, PT, yoga, and a slew of medication. At the time I was on 8-10 Advils a day to keep the pain to a manageable level so I could go about my day. James and I discussed my issues and he set me up on a program that emphasized core strength and conditioning along with crucial stretching and other ways to manage the pain.
As an aging athlete, James was able to keep me working hard, get stronger, yet stay healthy by incorporating dynamic stretching, flexibility practices, and modifying my strength training movements.
I am much more aware of my body, how I move and my posture. As a result, I no longer take pain medication for my back! After about three months the pain started to subside and by nine months in it was completely gone. I credit James’ knowledge, attention to detail, and constant coaching with my vast and rapid improvement.
